NB Selects

Our high performance program was designed to provide a competitive pathway for Softball New Brunswick's top male and female athletes (U15-U20). Teams are made up of the best athletes from across the province of New Brunswick who regularly train together to attend the Softball Canada Canadian Championships on an annual basis. Designed help prepare athletes and coaches for future high performance events (Canada Summer Games, national teams, etc.).

  • U15 Women’s (2011/2012) - 2026 Championships will be held in Fredericton, NB
  • U17 Women’s (2009/2010) - 2026 Championships will be held in Calgary, AB
  • U19 Women’s (2007/2008) - 2026 Championships will be held in Calgary, AB

NB Selects Coaching Selection Process

Softball NB accepts applications for coaching positions for the NB Selects Provincial Team Programs. These are honorarium based positions working with motivated athletes at a high performance level, who will represent New Brunswick at the Softball Canada Canadian Championships. We look for coaches who will create a positive, safe and inclusive environment, while prioritizing athlete development. 

Coaching Positions 

1 Head Coach, and 2-3 Assistant Coaches per team

Current NB Selects Categories:

  • U15 Women’s 
  • U17 Women’s
  • U19 Women’s

Coaching Criteria

  • Minimum Competition-Introduction In-Training (must be certified by June 30, 2026)
  • Previous experience in high performance sports programs (softball and/or equivalent) is considered an asset
  • Ability to work in a collaborative, team environment 
  • All female teams must have at least one female on the coaching staff (Head or Assistant Coach)

Selection Process 

  • Applications will be reviewed by the Softball NB High Performance Committee
  • Qualified applicants will be invited to partake in the two-part interview process including:
    • Interview Process with the High Performance Committee
    • On-field evaluation, candidates will assist with athlete tryouts and lead/facilitate drills
  • The High Performance Committee will select a Head Coach and 2-3 Assistant Coaches per team.
    • The Head Coach will be consulted in the Assistant Coach selection process.
  • Both those interested in Head Coaching and/or Assistant Coaching will partake in the interview process.

Expectations for the Program

Once selected the Coaching Staff will work together to finalize the roster of 22-28 athletes for the Winter Training Team. The Coaching Staff will lead the eight Winter Training Sessions in conjunction with Softball NB. At the conclusion of Winter Training, the Coaching Staff will select the final roster of 13-14 athletes for the Official NB Selects Roster. Teams will train weekly and participate in 3-4 tournaments leading up to their respective Canadian Championship.
