• One Year Trial of WBSC Rules for Pitching & Strike Zone

    At the recent Softball Canada Congress a proposal to implement a one-year trial of these two new rules was discussed at several workshops and unanimously approved at the Annual General Meeting. This trial will be effective January 1, 2018!

    Softball Canada presents 10 Canadian Championships in various locations across the country. These Championships represent the pinnacle of many athletes' careers, as they compete for the title of National Champion. To attend a Canadian Championship, teams must first contact their Provincial or Territorial Softball Association.

Annual Awards


Each year Softball New Brunswick strives to honor our most accomplished members. We proudly present awards to players, coaches, umpires and volunteers, thereby showing our appreciation for their contributions to the sport of softball. The criteria for these awards is available below.


  1. Candidate must be a permanent resident of New Brunswick as per the Residency Rule.
  2. Candidate must be a registered member of Softball New Brunswick in the current year.
  3. Candidate must have participated in either a Regional or Provincial Playoff as a member in the current year.
  4. Candidate must be registered in the category of which they have been nominated (Minor for Minor Award etc.).
  5. Candidates will be adjudicated on their accomplishments of the current year, sportsmanship, and their contributions to the sport of softball in New Brunswick.
  6. Successful candidates will be announced and presented to at the Annual Awards Banquet in October.
  7. SNB Awards in this category include:
    • Female Athlete of the Year
    • Male Athlete of the Year
    • Vicki Leblanc Minor Female Athlete of the Year
    • Louis Leger Minor Male Athlete of the Year
    • President Award (male)
    • President Award (female)
    • Team of the Year (major)
    • Team of the Year (minor)
    • Female Coach of the Year
    • Male Coach of the Year


  1. Candidates must have dedicated many hours of their volunteer time to foster the sport of Softball in New Brunswick, primarily for softball in their own region/zone.
  2. Candidates must have at least 5 years of service with Softball in New Brunswick but do not have to be registered participants.
  3. Successful candidates will be announced and presented to at the Annual Awards Banquet in October.
  4. SNB Awards in this category include:
    • Official of the Year
    • Grassroots Official of the Year
    • Dedicated Official of the Year
    • Paul Dawson Volunteer of the Year
    • Lifetime Volunteer Achievement Award
    • Media Coverage Award
    • Corporate Award
    • Spirit of Sport Award
    • Learn to Play Award

Nominations for these awards must be submitted by October 1st and sent via email to the SNB office for review and selection by the Awards Committee which includes: SNB President, Vice President, Executive Director, Technical Director, Minor Female, Minor Male and Adult Coordinator.
